Squirrel!!!

Monday Meandering ðŸ™‚
Not sure if it's meditation or motivation, so let's call it meandering, because that's the way it is today (and has been for a while). Let's call it...

Squirrel Brain
I started a practice a few months ago of planning my days. As I age, I find that my mother was right (who knew!?! right?) when she said about time, "The days are long, but the years fly by!"

Giving myself a skeleton blueprint of the day helps me focus, but during and after being sick with covid, I noticed that my new habit had fallen away and the old patterns re-emerged. The result has been days bleeding into days, and suddenly, two WHOLE MONTHS of the year have passed by.

I blame distractions -- the proverbial "Squirrel!!!!!!!!" brain of starting something and then something else, without focus. I noticed it today... prepping to write, asking the internet if elevated blood sugar can impact sleep (it can), checking if Audible has a book a friend recommended (it does), answering a text, reading an email, remembering I need to send some emails, looking for post-it notes, I should probably clean my glasses, and where did I put those cleaner thingies? and OH! I need to take my meds, and ....

Monkey, Monkey, Underpants! (Gilmore Girls fans will get it! lol

FOCUS is probably the single most under-used superpower for most women. We have so many demands on our time, real and imagined. The generation of "I can have it all" is particularly susceptible.

Scripture has principles for focus.

A double-minded person is unstable in all her ways. ðŸ™‚ James 1:8 (Unstable ...lol... Certainly how I feel some days!)

"We must pay more careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away," says the writer of Hebrews (2:1). Drift is so easy! No one wakes up and says, "I want to be unfocused today!"

And "making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil" (Ephesians 5:16). Time flies, and focus is required.

Colossians 3: 1-2 says to set your heart and set your mind...
"Fix our eyes," Hebrews 12:2, "on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith..."

So today, I choose to Focus.
To set my mind on my calling, my purpose.
To make the most of every opportunity.
To avoid drift.
To see Jesus, and follow His example of single focus, finishing well.

F - Follow thru
O - One thing at a time
C - Conquering distractions
U - Using time wisely
S - Seeing results

What's your FOCUS today?
